Greg A. Francis

As a child, Attorney Greg Francis couldn't have imagined that he would, one day, spend his life fighting for the rights of those others ignore at one of the most successful law firms in the country.

After all, he spoke little English when he came to the U.S. from Panama as a six-year-old in 1974. His family established roots in the Richmond Heights neighborhood of Orlando where he had to learn a new way of life.

But his new life was good. At an early age, he began to read. In fact, he spent much of his time reading just about anything he could get his hands on. As he grew up, he was known by his close-knit circle of friends as "the guy who would be successful one day."

He aspired to prove them right.

Francis humbly credits his mother and stepfather for providing the foundation from which he was able to succeed. His mother relentlessly encouraged him and his stepdad was a corrections officer with a military background, so discipline was also a big part of his household.

Francis was a member of the football and track teams at Oak Ridge High School and graduated with honors in 1986. He continued his education at the University of Florida, where he studied Criminal Justice.

Unsure of where to take this pursuit Francis began looking at his past. Growing up he often saw people get into trouble. A best friend during his childhood was convicted of murder as an adult and is currently serving a life sentence. What became most clear to him was that the people getting into trouble often didn't have a voice.

He wanted to be their voice.

As a senior at UF the decision was made to go to law school and become an attorney. He would become that voice. Earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida School of Law as a Virgil Hawkins Fellow, Francis began his legal career in 1994.

In 2001, he went on to join the law firm of Morgan & Morgan P.A. as a partner and built upon specializations in medical malpractice, police misconduct, wrongful death, and catastrophic personal injuries. Today, Francis serves on the Morgan & Morgan Executive Committee and is the Managing Partner of the firm's Mississippi office.

As a result of his extensive litigation experience and trial skills, he was asked by famed trial attorney Johnnie Cochran to join his national law firm (a joint venture with Morgan & Morgan).

From 2004 - 2006 he served as the co-managing partner of the “Cochran Firm” - Miami and in 2006 became a shareholder of Morgan & Morgan P.A. - Orlando. It is here that he has spent his career seeking justice for those who need a voice.

Francis' efforts go beyond that of professional obligation. He leads an active role in the National Bar Association at both local and state levels. He served as President of the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association from 2001 - 2003 and on the Executive Board of the Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association. Furthermore, he serves on the 9th Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee and is on the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions.

In addition, Francis is an active member of the community and routinely volunteers his time to a number of local non-profit associations in Central Florida. He serves on the board of the Nap Ford Charter School and 100 Blackmen of America-Orlando Chapter. Additionally, he was honored with the Ryce Award - Community Leader, the Vince Malone Townsend Award and a recipient of the Legends = For Achievement in Civil Rights, given by the National Bar Association. Most recently, he was named an honorary member of the Tuskegee Airmen.

He lives in Windermere with his wife and two young children.
